Happy May Day - Bringing in the May

i am told our ancestor’s
celebrated,
knowing the seasons of earth govern
the harvest.

“bringing in the May”

bringing in the season
light return
nature awakens

days are longer and warm
sunshine brings us
outside to play
in the woods

stuff the wicker basket full
of chicken salad sandwiches
iced tea and cakes

time for a picnic

trees are redressed in shades of green
flowers wow us
color reigns
and we love it.

tie ribbons of bright color
in tree limbs

fashion garlands
of local flowers
or silks
to cover a small tree trunk

plant a tree
pot marigolds
dance and whirl
waving a sparkler wand
Quvenzhané Wallis in Beast of A Southern Wild

make it personal
this coming of
May

the spirit of earth day lingers
i am gathering words
for my own
meditations

Happy Happy to all of you!

* Beautiful but Deadly - Amanita muscaria. Most species of Amanita are poisonous: some are "deadly," meaning "kill you for sure," but muscaria's poison is a powerful neurotoxin.

EARTH DAY WONDERFUL!

On the Earth, Of The Earth, Love the Earth

“Earth's crammed with heaven...
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes.”
“...the care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy and, after all, our most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it, and to foster its renewal, is our only legitimate hope.”

“Find your place on the planet. Dig in, and take responsibility from there.”

We worked together for almost 15 years.  She made me laugh, she taught me things.  She is one, of my two BFF’s, a true friend.  My friend, Barbara.

It was a good visit, I have always enjoyed her animals.  There are bees I forgot to visit.

There were tears on my cheeks as I drove away!

To show you God has a sense of humor, both my BFF’s are name Barbara Jean.....both are good with money!
